Suryakumar Yadav‘s incredible batting display propelled Mumbai Indians to a comfortable victory over defending champions Gujarat Titans in the IPL. Mumbai scored 218 runs in their 20 overs, which Gujarat Titans failed to chase, eventually losing the game by 27 runs. As a result, the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list has seen quite a few changes after tonight’s high-scoring encounter.
Blistering SKY
Suryakumar Yadav’s inning during the Mumbai Indians’ clash against the Gujarat Titans was nothing short of extraordinary. His breathtaking knock of 103 runs off just 49 balls left spectators in awe of his batting prowess. Yadav’s inning was a masterclass in power hitting and finesse, as he unleashed a wide array of shots all around the ground. With 11 scintillating fours and 6 towering sixes, he systematically dismantled the opposition’s bowling attack, leaving them helpless and demoralized.
Yadav’s remarkable display of skill, composure, and sheer determination not only propelled Mumbai Indians to a formidable total of 218 runs but also etched his name in the record books as the first MI batter to score a century at the hallowed Wankhede Stadium. After this inning, Suryakumar Yadav has made a huge jump in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list.
Before the start of this game, Suryakumar Yadav was in the 8th position with 376 runs. After the game, he has propelled to the 3rd spot in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list with 479 runs in 12 games. This is a massive feat for the batter considering the fact that he had a slow start to the tournament.
Ishan breaks into the top 10
Another MI batter that has been able to break into the IPL 2023 Orange Cap is wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. Kishan has been able to find his missing form lately and is back to giving Mumbai some quick-fire starts. In tonight’s clash against the Gujarat Titans, the left-hander scored 31 runs off 20 balls and paired up 61 runs with his captain Rohit Sharma for the first wicket in just 6 overs.
He too has found a spot in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list. Ishan now has 366 runs in 12 games at an average of 30.50. He sits in the 10th position on the list and is looking forward to securing a much better place in the remaining 2 games of his franchise.
Shubman Gill fails
The pressure of a 200-plus score in T20 is immense and it was visible as Shubman Gill came out to bat. The young opener looked rather uncomfortable in his 9-ball stay and was eventually dismissed by Akash Madhwal for just 6 runs. As a result, he has slipped down one position and is now in the 4th spot in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list. The batter who replaced him at number 3 is Suryakumar Yadav.
