In today’s encounter, Punjab Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 runs in a nail-biting finish. A lot of batters performed well today and thus the Orange Cap list has seen some serious shuffled in the top 10.
Dhawan and Samson continue good form
Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan has continued to be in good form. The left-handed batter scored led his team from the front today and scored a brilliant 86 not out from 56 deliveries. He played a huge role in Punjab’s victory as he helped them put up a score of 197 runs in 20 overs. With today’s amazing inning, Dhawan now has 126 runs, the exact same as Kyle Mayers, and is seated at the third spot in the Orange Cap list.
His contemporary, Sanju Samson also played a quick inning of 42 runs in 25 balls that included 5 fours and a six. Despite that, he was not able to get his team across the winning line. Despite that, he has climbed to the fourth spot in the Orange Cap list with 97 runs to his name in 2 games.
Prabhsimran: The pocket dynamite
Having called in to bat first at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Punjab’s opener Prabhsimran Singh launched an all-out attack against Rajasthan’s bowlers. The 22-year-old youngster smashed 60 runs in just 34 balls at the top of the order to set the tone for Punjab’s inning. He played aggressively in the last game against KKR as well but could not go big. In this game, he went up and beyond to put Rajasthan Royals on the backfoot. Prabhsimran now has 83 runs to his name in 2 games at a whopping strike rate of 180.43 and currently sits at the 8th spot in the Orange Cap list.
Jos Buttler failed to make it big in today’s game and has thus slipped out of the top 10. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kyle Mayers continue to be the top 2.
