Pakistan Women’s Team Misses Daily Allowances During Multan Camp, to Get Them Before South Africa Series

Since a few times, Pakistan cricket has been going through a lot. They are suffering from several performances. But there is something big happened in the Pakistan Women’s team. The Pakistan women’s cricket team has not received their daily allowances during the current training camp in Multan. They will receive the allowance once their upcoming series starts.

Allowance Policy Change for Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team

The Pakistan women’s cricket team has not been receiving daily allowances during their training camp in Multan. This camp is a preparation for the upcoming three T20I matches against South Africa next week. The team will only receive allowances once the series starts.

This new policy differs from previous camps where daily allowances were given. It also contrasts with the allowances provided to the men’s national team. Historically, the women’s team received modest daily allowances during training.

Currently, the PCB is offering accommodation and three meals a day at the camp, a change from past arrangements where meals were not provided. According to a PCB official, the policy states that if the board provides three meals a day and hotel accommodation, no additional daily allowances will be given.

Policy Difference Between Men and Women’s Team:

The policy for daily allowances and accommodation differs between the men’s and women’s cricket teams. While theoretically, both teams should follow the same rules, it is rarely enforced for the men’s side. In the recent men’s training camp before Pakistan’s Test series against Bangladesh, players received daily allowances in addition to accommodation and meals. However, free meals were not provided, and allowances were given as compensation.

Historically, the men’s team has consistently received daily allowances, often with up to two meals included. The change in the women’s camp policy, which now only includes accommodation and three meals.

The new policy has disappointed some women’s players, who feel that being away from home for a camp should warrant more than just basic needs. There were hopes that future camps, particularly with the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, would offer improved support.

Pending Central Contracts for Women and Men

The central and domestic contracts for the women’s team remain unfinalized. Last year, 19 women were awarded central contracts starting August 1, 2023, running until June 30, 2025. These contracts were to be reviewed after the first 12 months. However, six weeks have passed since that review date, and no updates or revisions have been announced yet.

Similarly, the men’s central contracts are overdue for assessment. Although changes are expected soon, there is no official update on the timeline for their announcement. The delays in both the women’s and men’s contracts have left many awaiting clarity on their terms.
