Nadeem overshadowed the much-anticipated performance of Chopra, the current Olympic champion from Tokyo, despite not being considered the top contender.

Chopra’s struggles with injuries and inability to break the 90-meter barrier, Nadeem delivered two outstanding throws exceeding 90 meters in his five attempts.

His second attempt shattered the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters, set by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Games. This achievement marked a monumental moment for Pakistan, securing its first Olympic medal since the 1992 Barcelona Games.
