Pant’s Cryptic Post After Being Suspended From DC vs RCB

The Delhi Capitals‘ season in the 2024 Indian Premier League has been a roller-coaster ride, but its captain, Rishabh Pant, has been outstanding on an individual level.

The 2024 season of IPL tournament marks Pant’s return to top-level competitive cricket after a vehicle accident in late December 2022 and the ensuing recovery caused him to sit out for more than a year. Pant had played every match for DC this season as captain and wicketkeeper-batter until Sunday, when the streak was interrupted.

Pant suspended from RCBvsDC

Rishabh Pant was suspended as well as fined INR 30 lakh for a Code of Conduct violation during DC’s 20-run victory over Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.

DC was 10 minutes behind schedule at the start of the final over of the RR game. DC were without their captain for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). They went on to lose the match by 47 runs, significantly reducing their chances of qualifying the IPL playoffs.

Rishabh Pant’s Cryptic instagram story, and Axar’s remark on the suspension

Pant posted a strange Instagram story just hours before the match started on Sunday. It was a screenshot of a quotation that read: “The only thing we have power over in the universe is our own thoughts.” Pant elaborated by saying, “Can’t say much.”

It is safe to say that DC had lost most chances for winning as soon as Pant got suspended from the match. Rishabh is currently at the top of his game and was performing continuously for the team.

Axar Patel, an all-rounder, led DC in Pant’s absence. At the toss, Axar confirmed that the DC captain was not at his happiest, after being suspended from a match, especially since he is in great form this season.

Patel stated that Pant was upset about the suspension. “Rishabh was upset about being banned; the bowlers are late, but the skipper is penalized. But he’s on the ground, motivated, and has advised us not to feel alone and to focus on the process,” Axar said.

DC lost to RCB in Pant’s Absence

Delhi Capitals fans had to face what they feared the most. The team lost their match against RCB.

Even though the bowlers tried hard and succeed in restricting RCB at a score less than 190, the batsmen found it hard to chase their run target of 188 runs. DC had lost 4 wickets in the powerplay itself, and that shook the team’s confidence to it’s core.

DC now holds the 6th spot on the points table, while RCB got promoted to number 5.
