Former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey is set to rejoin the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) for the 2025 season. 

As per reports from Cricbuzz, Mhambrey will work alongside Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga as the bowling coach of the five-time IPL champions. 

Mhambrey, who has previously been associated with MI, will bring a wealth of experience to the team.

Mhambrey was a crucial part of the Indian coaching setup during the Rahul Dravid era, contributing to India’s campaigns in the World Test Championship (2021-23), ODI World Cup 2023, and T20 World Cup 2024. 

After stepping down from his role with the national team following the transition to Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, he is now poised to return to the IPL arena.

A Return to Familiar Grounds

Before joining the Indian team, Mhambrey had been part of Mumbai Indians as a bowling coach.

Mumbai Indians have expanded their brand significantly since Mhambrey’s last stint, now owning teams in South Africa (MI Cape Town), UAE (MI Emirates), and the United States (MI New York). It is expected that his reappointment will strengthen the MI coaching staff under Mahela Jayawardene, who heads the MI group.

Dravid Era Coaching Staff Moves On

Mhambrey is not the only member of Rahul Dravid’s coaching staff to have moved on.

Vikram Rathour, the former batting coach, has joined Rajasthan Royals as their batting coach, where Dravid is the head coach. 

Meanwhile, T Dilip continues as the fielding coach for the Indian national team under Gautam Gambhir’s regime.
