PCB Allocates Funds for Stadium Renovations
The Pakistan Cricket Board has committed 12.8 billion rupees for upgrading stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi ahead of next year’s ICC Champions Trophy. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared this information during a Board of Governors meeting in Faisalabad. Naqvi assured that all three venues will be fully prepared to host the prestigious event.
Of the total budget, 7.7 billion rupees will be dedicated to improving the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This significant investment aims to ensure the stadium meets the necessary standards for the international tournament.
Investment in National Stadium in Karachi:
The Pakistan Cricket Board has allocated 3.5 billion rupees for the renovation of the National Stadium in Karachi. This budget covers various improvements, starting with 1.5 billion rupees for the steel framework of the pavilion building. Additionally, 580 million rupees will be used to renovate the main building and hospitality boxes.
The plan also includes 330 million rupees for installing two new LED digital screens and 490 million rupees for upgrading floodlights to 450 LED lights. Furthermore, 340 million rupees are designated for new seating installations. These upgrades aim to enhance the stadium’s facilities and ensure it meets international standards.
Gaddafi Stadium Gets 1.1 Million for Renovation:
The PCB has allocated a substantial budget for the renovation of Gaddafi Stadium. This includes 1.1 billion rupees for constructing a new steel-structured pavilion and 3.471 billion rupees for a concrete office building. An additional 1.25 billion rupees is designated for the steel structure of the stadium’s enclosure. Other allocations include 189 million rupees for building a moat and 330 million rupees to replace two LED digital screens.
Further improvements involve replacing current floodlights with 480 LED lights at a cost of 523 million rupees. The budget also includes 375 million rupees for new seating and 93 million rupees for external development works. These enhancements aim to upgrade the stadium’s facilities and ensure it meets modern standards.
Rawalpindi Stadium’s Renovation Budget:
The renovation of Rawalpindi Stadium is set to cost 1.5 billion rupees. The stadium is all set to get a whole new makeover. The budget includes 393 million rupees for replacing floodlights with 350 LED lights. An additional 400 million rupees is allocated for renovating the main building, hospitality boxes, and restrooms.
Further improvements include 330 million rupees for installing two new LED digital screens. The project also involves spending 272 million rupees on new seating installations. These upgrades aim to enhance the stadium’s facilities and ensure it meets modern standards.
