The Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 is being held in Sri Lanka. The tournament started on 19 July, 2024 and will go on until July 28. The T20 Series started with a match between Nepal Women and UAE Women. India Women and Bangladesh Women came together for the semifinals match at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla. Bangladesh Women won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored a measly 80/8 in 20 overs, despite the pitch being high scoring in previous matches. India Women scored 83/0 in 11 overs and clinched a victory with a wide berth.
Renuka Thakur Singh becomes the POTM
Indian bowler Renuka Thakur Singh became the Player Of The Match after her extraordinary performance. Singh took 3 wickets in the match, conceding only 10 runs in 4 overs. The star bowler maintained an economy rate of 2.5 which is impressive in itself.
“Very happy. It was an important match, pleased to perform well here. I focused on my basics. Whatever I prepared yesterday, I executed that. There was help with the strong breeze. I love to bowl with the new ball.” Renuka said in the post match ceremony.
The India Women showed World class bowling in the first innings. This was followed by a timely run chase by Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. Shafali and Smriti scored 26 and 55 runs respectively, leading to the team’s victory.
