Prime Minister Narendra Modi took time to personally congratulate Olympic medalist Sarabjot Singh on his teamwork with Manu Bhaker that led them to a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics.

In a phone call, the Prime Minister expressed his admiration for Sarabjot’s performance. “Many many congratulations to you,” he said. “You have made India proud. Your efforts have paid off. Extend my wishes to Manu as well. You both showed brilliant teamwork. What is the reason behind it?”
Sarabjot Reveals Teamwork Secret
Sarabjot responded by explaining their successful partnership. “Since 2019, we paired in the nationals and other tournaments,” he revealed. “The experience was really good, and I hope to perform better the next time.” Their years of training and competition together clearly paid off on the Olympic stage.
India’s Second Medal and History Made
The duo of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 to secure the bronze medal. Their consistent shooting, with regular 10s during the match, secured India’s second medal at the ongoing Summer Games.
Manu Bhaker’s Double Feat
Manu Bhaker’s success in the mixed team event, combined with her earlier bronze medal in the women’s individual 10m air pistol event, made her a history-maker. She became the first Indian woman to win two medals at a single Olympics since India’s independence. This achievement places her among an elite group of Indian multi-medal Olympic athletes, including PV Sindhu (badminton) and Sushil Kumar (wrestling).
