It was a dream debut for the 18-year-old as Prithvi Shaw records several milestones on his first outing. He became the 293rd player to represent India in Test cricket. Shaw opened the innings and looked flamboyant from the beginning. He batted in his natural attacking demeanor and punished the opposition bowlers.
First, he brought up his half-century from 56 balls and then went on to notch up the maiden century off 99 balls. Alongside Cheteshwar Pujara, he added 206 runs for the 2nd wicket and took India into a commanding position. Ultimately, he got out for 134 from 154 balls with 19 boundaries.
It was a show of sheer class and the youngster showed promising signs for Indian cricket. The right-hander proved that he is here to stay and has a bright future ahead. In his remarkable beginning, he registered himself into the record books. His century at the age of 18 years and 329 days helped him break into the lists of several great players.
