Burman, who is also a co-owner of Punjab Kings, expressed his joy over the victory and reflected on the hard work that led to this achievement.
“We have been putting in a lot of hard work—building infrastructure and developing strategies for the past 16 years. While we are yet to win the IPL, this success will certainly boost our confidence in building a great team,” Burman stated after the match.
Acknowledging Key Contributors
Burman credited two-time T20 World Cup-winning captain Daren Sammy and skipper Faf du Plessis for their roles in the team’s success. “We have been involved here for four years. By the grace of God, we’ve reached two finals, and this year we won it all. I’m truly happy and thankful to the team,” he added.
He highlighted the significance of this victory for Saint Lucia, noting that it follows their gold medal win in the Olympics. “Daren is from St. Lucia and is also the coach of West Indies. When we first brought the team here, he was a player,” Burman remarked.
Punjab Kings’ Need for Revamp
As Punjab Kings prepares for a major overhaul ahead of IPL 2025, they are unlikely to retain up to six players before the auction. The franchise is also in search of a new captain following Shikhar Dhawan‘s retirement from all formats of cricket.
