The day saw two exhilarating encounters. In the first game, Royal Challengers Bangalore toppled the Rajasthan Royals in a close game. However, in the second Chennai Super completely decimated the Kolkata Knight Riders. After two amazing encounters, there have been several changes in the Purple Cap list.
Siraj back at the top
Arshdeep Singh’s stint as the Orange Cap holder lasted only for a day as Mohammed Siraj has snatched the Orange Cap back. Siraj bowled a ripping inswinger to Jos Buttler in his first over to remove the English batter for his second duck of the season. However, that was his only wicket of the game, as the right-arm pacer went for 39 runs in his 4 overs as Rajasthan Royals etched closer to the win but faltered towards the end. Despite this, he has risen to the top, pushing Arshdeep to the second spot.
Deshpande and Jadeja rise despite being expensive
Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja were smashed to all parts of the ground by KKR batters tonight. Despite that, they have managed to rise in the ranks. Deshpande took 2 wickets in the game while Jadeja picked up just 1. Nonetheless, Desphande has jumped 2 spots, from the 7th to the 5th while Jadeja has jumped one, from the 8th to the 7th. Deshpande is CSK’s most successful bowler this season with 12 wickets to his name in 7 games. It is also worth noting that he is the only uncapped player in the top 10. Jadeja, on the other hand, has taken 10 wickets in 7 games at an economy rate of 7.33.
Harshal Patel too recorded his best figures of the season as he marked his return to form. Harshal ended with figures of 3 for 32 and played a huge role in RCB’s win over the Rajasthan Royals. All three of these wickets came towards the middle and end of the game, just when RCB needed them the most. He has taken Piyush Chawla’s spot in the list and is currently at the 10th spot in the Purple Cap race.
