Purple Cap Holder of IPL 2023: Updated After RCB vs MI Match 5

After today’s doubleheader, all 10 teams have played one game each and the league organizers will start doling the Purple Cap from tomorrow. By the looks of it, Mark Wood would probably be the first player to receive the Purple Cap as he is still at the top with 5 wickets to his name. His position was threatened for a while but it all worked out in his favor in the end.

Chahal picks 4

Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal was the bowler of the day as he picked up 4 wickets against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chahal took the wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Adil Rashid, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and didn’t let SRH batters score big. With this performance, he has taken the second spot in the Purple Cap list, just below Mark Wood.

As a result, Arshdeep Singh and Rajvardhan Hangargekar have each fallen one place and have taken third and fourth place respectively on the table.

Boult and Natarajan impress

Another formidable but not surprising entry into the top 10 list was Rajasthan Royals’ pacer, Trent Boult. Boult took figures of 2 for 21 during his outing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and is now the new number 5 in the race. He has pushed down Rashid Khan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Shami a place as they have taken the sixth, seventh, and eighth spots in the Purple Cap list.

Ravi Bishnoi and Alzarri Joseph have slipped out of the top 10. T Natarajan of Sunrisers Hyderabad is the new number 10 on the list with 2 wickets to his name.
