Qalandars’ Owner Slams PCB for ‘Pathetic’ Handling of Rauf’s Contract Termination Right Before PSL Kickoff

For a long time, the Pakistan Cricket Board. A lot of changes are happening in the team and even in the cricket board. Haris Rauf has been terminated from the board’s central contract just two days before PSL 2024. After this, Lahore Qalandars’ owner stood by Rauf and referred to PCB’s action as ‘Pathetic’.

Canceled Haris Rauf’s Central Contract:

The decision to terminate Haris Rauf’s central contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came after he made himself unavailable for Pakistan‘s three-Test series in Australia two months prior. Chief selector Wahab Riaz publicly criticized Rauf for going back on his commitment, emphasizing that his decision would negatively impact Pakistan. Despite Rauf’s central contract obligation to be available, he opted out, contributing to Pakistan’s 3-0 loss in the Australia series.

Although specific details of the disciplinary proceedings against Rauf were not disclosed, the PCB announced on February 15 that his responses during a personal hearing were deemed unsatisfactory. Consequently, the board decided to terminate his central contract and imposed a ban on his participation in any overseas T20 league until June 30, 2024. This move reflects the PCB’s commitment to upholding contractual obligations and ensuring player availability for national duties.

Lahore Qalandars’ Owner’s Words:

Lahore Qalandars’ owner, Sameen Rana, criticized the PCB for the timing of its decision to terminate Haris Rauf’s central contract, just two days before the PSL’s start. Rana, while refraining from questioning the decision’s correctness, expressed discontent with the disruptive timing, deeming the way the information was conveyed to the player as “really poor management.”

He said, “Rauf’s our premier bowler, our highest wicket-taker after Shaheen Afridi. To publicly humiliate him and issue a press release announcing the termination of his central contract, I have never seen this happen anywhere. I would never treat my employees like that.”

Lahore Qalandars’ Owner Sameen Rana said, “To publicly humiliate him and issue a press release announcing the termination of his central contract, I have never seen this happen anywhere. I would never treat my employees like that. The employee at least has the right for you to call, email, or message them. None of that happened with Rauf, and it was pathetic. It was really poor management.”
