Rain washes the match away
The match had reached a thrilling point as Australian greats Steve Smith and Travis Head gained the much needed momentum. Head’s catch got dropped, followed by an aggressive hitting in the 4th over.
In the fourth over, Travis Head scored 24 runs, hitting two sixes and two fours, propelling Washington Freedom to 61/0 after 4 overs.
However, the rain eventually intervened, leaving the match unfinished and both teams with a shared point. Despite the interruption, the match featured notable performances and moments of high drama.
The rain stopped the play before the minimum of five overs could be completed in the second innings. Due to this, the DLS method couldn’t be applied, resulting in the match ending with no result and both teams sharing the points.
