Gujarat Titans will kickstart their IPL journey with a match against Lucknow Super Giants. Ahead of the same, the Hardik Pandya-led side announced the Afghanistan star player Rashid Khan as their vice-captain.
Rashid Khan is not new to leadership roles. He has the experience of leading Afghanistan in a few matches at the international level. Khan who used to represent Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League was picked up by Gujarat Titans for a whopping amount of INR 15 crore. Gujarat Titans made an official announcement on their Instagram handle on the same. “In yet another #SeasonOfFirsts, Rashid bhai becomes our vice-captain,” the caption of the post read.
Rashid Khan meanwhile shared his thoughts of playing alongside Pandya on the show ‘Backstage with Boria’. “He is a very nice person. We haven’t played together before but with the friendship and bond we share, it still feels like we have been playing together for years now. He is a great guy and always brings in a positive vibe whenever we talk about my game and his mindset.”
He also said that he is keen to learn as much as possible from Pandya. “He is the captain, it will be a great opportunity for me to learn as much as possible. I will also share my experiences of playing in different leagues. He is a new captain and this is a new team so definitely there will be so many things going on around his mind.”
Khan has 93 IPL wickets thus far in 76 games. As one of the prime bowlers of this tournament he would be keen to start afresh and contribute significantly for his new team, Gujarat Titans. The Titans will face Lucknow Super Giants led by KL Rahul tomorrow. This is going to be an exiting contest as both teams have joined IPL this year.
