In a recent conversation with Sports Tak, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh revealed his strong preference for joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) if the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decide not to retain him for the IPL 2025 season. Singh, who gained widespread recognition for his dramatic finish against Gujarat Titans‘ Yash Dayal in 2023, expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli, the captain of RCB.
“I would love to play for RCB because Virat Kohli is there,” Singh stated. His enthusiasm for Kohli’s leadership was evident as he praised the Indian batting icon, highlighting the respect he holds for him.
Additionally, he shared a memorable moment with Virat Kohli, saying, “Virat bhaiya gave me a bat before, but it was broken, so I asked for another one. He was kind enough to give me another bat; he didn’t deny me at all.” Singh’s anecdote highlights the generosity and supportive nature of Kohli, reinforcing the respect and admiration he holds for the cricketing legend.
In addition to his admiration for Kohli, Singh spoke highly of Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy. “SKY is a good captain and remains calm. He doesn’t talk much,” Singh noted, appreciating Yadav’s leadership style.
Rinku Singh, who made his debut for KKR in 2018, is currently the captain of the Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 League. He was also a part of India’s travelling reserves during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Despite not making a significant impact in recent T20I series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, Singh’s performances in domestic and IPL cricket have marked him as a player to watch in the upcoming seasons.
