Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has marked a significant milestone in his recovery journey following a devastating car accident last year. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who suffered multiple injuries in the crash, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru

On June 28, he updated his profile to include a “second” date of birth, choosing January 5, 2023. This symbolic gesture signifies a fresh start for Pant, celebrating his resilience and newfound perspective after the life-altering incident. 

The talented cricketer’s accident occurred on December 30, 2022, while he was traveling from Delhi to his hometown of Rourkee. The collision with a divider left him in critical condition, requiring immediate medical attention. Pant was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital by local individuals, and later he was airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai for specialized treatment under the care of BCCI doctors. 

In the months that have followed, Pant has made impressive strides in his recovery. From initially relying on crutches, he has now regained the ability to walk unassisted. A video shared on social media showcased Pant climbing stairs at the NCA without the aid of crutches, demonstrating his remarkable progress and determination.

Recently, Pant shared a heartwarming picture on social media, capturing a reunion with fellow cricketers Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Yuzvendra Chahal, who visited him at the NCA before embarking on the West Indies tour. The photograph also included KL Rahul, the former India vice-captain, who is recovering from a leg injury sustained during the IPL 2023 while representing the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Both Pant and Rahul have undergone surgeries and are currently focused on their rehabilitation. 

Joining Pant and Rahul in the recovery process at the NCA are Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah. Iyer underwent surgery for a recurring back issue, while Bumrah has been recuperating from a stress fracture. The quartet’s presence at the NCA demonstrates the dedication of the Indian cricket team’s medical staff and the players’ determination to regain full fitness.
