Rishabh Pant is enjoying the comparisons with former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But the young lad is eager to carve his own identity. In media interactions after arriving in India, he shared his thoughts with the reporters.
Pant shares his thoughts
“You feel amazing when you are compared to someone like MS Dhoni and you compare me with him,” Pant told reporters after landing here from Australia. Pant continued, “It’s amazing but I don’t want to be compared with anyone, I want to make myself as a name in Indian cricket because it’s not good to compare some legend with some youngster.”
Rishabh pant scored unbeaten 89 which helped India do the unthinkable and registering arguably the greatest Test win overseas for the country. While speaking about the triumph he said, “I think the whole team is very happy with the way we played the series in Australia.”
The story of victory
The Indian cricket team was all-out for 36 runs in the second innings in the first Test in Adelaide. After that, they were without their regular skipper Virat Kohli as Kohli returned India for a personal reason. The side was led by their vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane led the team from the front in the second Test by scoring a fantastic century. The team won the match and kept the series alive amid all kind of odds. What was interesting to see it that the visitors kept losing their regular players one after another due to injury but they refused to surrender.
The third match in Sydney saw a fine draw. In the fourth match, Indians were without a bunch of regular players including the likes of Jasprit Bumrah. They ended up using their net bowlers and snatched away the match from Australia on the final day. It was more special because it came in Brisbane where Australia had not lost since 1988.
