Rishabh Pant Finds Rohit Sharma’s Off-Field Communication Tough to Grasp
Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant recently appeared on Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube channel, where he made a humorous revelation about his interactions with captain Rohit Sharma.
Known for his unique Mumbai-style communication, Sharma often leaves Pant baffled with his off-field messages.
While Pant manages to understand Rohit’s directions on the field, decoding his off-field comments is an entirely different story.
During the candid conversation, Pant said (from 11:06), “I understand what he is saying on the ground. However, I don’t understand much when it comes to off the field.”
The light-hearted exchange gave fans a glimpse into the quirky dynamics between the two Indian cricket stars.

In the same video, Pant reflected on his time playing under former India head coach Ravi Shastri.
The 26-year-old southpaw emphasised the freedom and mutual understanding that defined their relationship.
According to Pant, Shastri never imposed restrictions on his gameplay, opting instead to provide alternatives and guidance when Pant faced challenges.
Recalling one instance, Pant shared how Shastri advised him to tackle off-spinners by incorporating the reverse sweep into his game.
“He told me that I needed to do something about facing off-spinners. He asked me to start playing the reverse sweep against them,” Pant revealed (from 21:50). ..This innovative approach helped Pant navigate a difficult phase, and he credited Shastri for offering solutions rather than prohibitions.
Rishabh Pant has made his much-awaited return to India’s Test squad after a 20-month break. He is set to play in the two-match home series against Bangladesh, beginning on September 19, 2024.
