Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in his official YouTube channel revealed that around 5-6 years ago, Virat and I were having a conversation about that one cricketer who is the ‘captain’s nightmare’.Â
He recalled his chat with Kohli when the duo was sitting in the dressing room and watched Rohit play.
Rohit’s Performance in the Continental Cup
There is no doubt as to why Rohit is regarded as the Hit Man of India. He has been the second fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.
In the ongoing Asia Cup, Rohit has smashed three consecutive half centuries. In the match against Pakistan, Rohit had to face the fast pace trio of Naseem, Afridi and Rauf. Struggling against them, Rohit scored 56 splendous runs out of 49 odd balls.Â
During India’s clash with Sri Lanka, on Tuesday, Rohit decided to stay on the crease and became the side’s highest scorer after he scored another half century.
What Past Years have seen of Rohit
Rohit Sharma, as one of the premier openers on the global stage and later as the Indian skipper, has proved himself contentiously. He was first promoted as an opener in 2017, under MS Dhoni‘s captaincy.Â
In most cases, Rohit has continued to stay on the crease, particularly above the mark of 30 runs. In 2014, Rohit scored a massive 264 haul mark against Sri Lanka which is regarded as the highest record in ODI cricket history.
The 36-year old captain continues to be a formidable force for India along with making him a threat to opposition bowlers. He’s been one of the mainstays for team India alongside Virat Kohli.Â
Ravi Ashwin said, on being asked by Kohli about a player who’s a captain’s nightmare, he went on to answer his question with MS Dhoni but Virat was like ‘No, it’s Rohit’. Virat asserted that with Rohit, ‘you really wouldn’t know where to bowl’.Â
