The recently concluded ODI series between India and Sri Lanka has witnessed several changes in the ICC ODI Rankings. Rohit Sharma, who was leading the Indian side in the absence of Virat Kohli, has stormed to No.5 in the batsmen’s rankings on the back of the magnificent double hundred in the second ODI in Mohali.
He scored 208* and became the only batsman in the history to notch up 3 ODI double centuries. Rohit Sharma has attained a rating of 816 which is his career-best and the first time he has crossed 800. Prior to the series, he was on the 7th position but a tally of 217 runs in 3 matches helped him rise 2 slots.
Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 168 runs that included a century in the last ODI, has gained one slot and moved to 14th rank. Virat Kohli, despite missing out on the ODI series, continues to top the chart with a rating of 876.
Among the Indian bowlers, the leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has risen 23 places to move to 28th place having picked up 6 wickets in the series. His spin partner Kuldeep Yadav also has moved up 16 slots to occupy his career-best 56th position.
For Sri Lanka, Upul Tharanga, who scored accumulated 151 runs in 3 games, has reached the 36th position and gained 15 places. The fast bowler Suranga Lakmal also benefitted for his 4 wickets and jumped 14 places to reach 22nd rank.
As far as the teams’ rankings are concerned, there are no changes. India had a chance to surpass South Africa to occupy the top spot with a 3-0 victory. But the loss in the first game has kept them at No.2 with a rating of 119.
