Rohit Sharma speaks up about Iyer’s and Axar’s dubious participation in the World Cup

As the Asia Cup 2023 ended today, the Men in Blue had the golden chance to take the trophy back home to India for the 8th time. Mohammed Siraj unleashed his magic on Sri Lankan batters and dismantled their batting line up to the core.

During the second innings, in just a matter of 15 minutes, India marked its victory against Sri Lanka by chasing the target of 50 runs, the shortest chase in Asia Cup history.

As the World Cup is all set to premier from October 5 with India being the host, all the teams have been releasing their squads for the big tournament to take place. Ahead of the World Cup, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma provided a big update on Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel’s fitness.

Will Shreyas Iyer recover in time?

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer who had last played in March 2023 against Australia is expected to sit out of the World Cup this year. He suffered a back spasm due to which he has been put to rest by the BCCI Medical Team. He is yet to fully recover from the injury and might need some more time to get his foot back in the upcoming World Cup.

Rohit Sharma when asked about Shreyas’s health update, the former said “He is on the track to full fitness, so fingers crossed for the World Cup.”

Axar Patel’s replacement card

After having played earlier Super 4 matches of the Asia Cup this month, Indian bowling star Axar Patel suffered a quadricep injury during the run chase against Bangladesh.
