Ruturaj Gaikwad to Lead India A Squad for Australia Tour

The BCCI has announced a 15-member India A squad for the upcoming tour of Australia, set to begin on October 31. The squad, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, includes several promising players aiming to make their mark on the international stage. Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been in excellent form in domestic cricket, has been named vice-captain. Ishan Kishan also makes a comeback to the team after a strong showing in domestic tournaments.

India A will play two first-class matches against Australia A

Followed by a three-day intra-squad game with the senior Indian team in Perth. The matches are crucial, particularly with the reports suggesting that India captain Rohit Sharma might miss the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. 

The India A games will give young players like Gaikwad and Easwaran a chance to showcase their talent and push for a spot in the senior side.

Ishan Kishan’s Return

After being dropped from the Indian team last season for not participating in domestic cricket, Ishan Kishan has earned his way back into the fold.

His recent performances in the domestic circuit, especially in Ranji Trophy matches, have impressed the selectors. Kishan, along with fellow wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel, will be crucial in providing stability to the middle order during the tour.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been in outstanding form, hitting centuries in both the Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup, making him one of the key players to watch. 

In addition to Gaikwad and Easwaran, players like Devdutt Padikkal, Ricky Bhui, and Baba Indrajith will be aiming to impress. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has had a promising start to his T20I career, will also play a vital role as a fast-bowling all-rounder.
