The 61st IPL match was held between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The stadium was full of high energy and excitement from fans of the home-team CSK who came victorious today.
Chennai Super Kings had a crucial match today, especially since this victory takes the team a step closer to the playoffs for IPL 2024. The team is now at the 3rd spot on the points table, with 14 points to their name.
Gaikwad feels wonderful after winning final league match
Addressing the fans and audience after today’s fixture, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad spoke out his heart in the ceremony.
“Wonderful feeling, especially winning the final game of the league stage. We were cruising after the powerplay but we let the opposition in with wickets. But we had the kind of batters to finish the job and didn’t take pressure.” said Gaikwad.
The newly appointed captain also expressed the team’s wishes to play more matches where their bowlers could get some more recognition.
“We would like to play on such pitches where it will keep our bowlers in the game, the spinners as well. Bowling into the wicket is the plan usually here when it’s slow. But sometimes it flattens out and the yorker and the use of two short balls becomes important. But slow pace off is a good ploy here.” He added.
Simarjeet becomes Player Of The Match
While Gaikwad and Simarjeet both played well for the team, it was the latter who took away the Player Of The Match title today.
The bowler, who had been injured for most part of the year express his gratitude towards the physiotherapists and management of CSK.
Singh took the wickets of the most ‘intimidating’ RR batsmen, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler and Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson.
