Cricketing maestros Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have received special invitations to serve as chief guests for the Pran Pratishtha (consecration ceremony) of Lord Rama at the historic Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. This marks the first instance of the revered cricketers inaugurating a religious event of such significance.

The highly anticipated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is on track to be completed by January 2024. The consecration ceremony, a sacred ritual known as Pran Pratishtha, is scheduled for January 22. The event will witness the presence of distinguished personalities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Dignitaries from Various Spheres Invited

Over 8000 dignitaries have been extended invitations by Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra for the momentous occasion. Among the invitees are luminaries from diverse fields, with the names of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli featuring prominently. The list also includes eminent personalities such as actors Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Ratan Tata, along with saints, priests, and recipients of prestigious awards.

The invitation list reflects a diverse cross-section of society, encompassing religious leaders, saints, Shankaracharyas, former civil servants, retired Army officers, lawyers, scientists, poets, musicians, and Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan recipients. A Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) worker indicated that out of the 8000 invitees, 6000 are religious leaders, while the remaining 2000 are notable figures from sports, cinema, music, business, and other walks of life.

Cricket Legends’ Past Engagements

Both Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have been actively involved in various social and civic initiatives. Tendulkar participated in the stone-laying ceremony for the upcoming international cricket stadium in Varanasi earlier this year. It remains to be seen whether other cricket luminaries, including Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar, will also be part of the Ram Mandir inauguration.
