It was a great moment for Sachin Tendulkar and his fans. He is the biggest cricket icon all over the World. Cricket enthusiasts are amazed by his excellence across the globe. He took India to a different level. He set a new benchmark in records. Before the clash between India and Sri Lanka, the Mumbai Cricket Association organized the event of unveiling the statue. Fans were presented at the stadium during the event. Sachin was also presented there in the stadium.
After this event, Sachin expressed his gratitude on social media. Wankhede is very close to Sachin’s heart. Being a Mumbaikar, he grew up playing cricket over there. After positing an old picture write down a long note. He wrote, “ This photo has a very special in my heart. From being a 10-year old boy who was sneaked into the North Stand with only 24 tickets for 25 eager fans, to having my statue unveiled at the iconic Wankhede, life has come full circle.”
He recalled his journey and wrote, “ I still remember our joyous chants, the camaraderie of that group, and the overwhelming support of the @northstandgang over the years. To think that I first stepped foot in Wankhede as a fan, then went on to be the ball boy in the 87 World Cup, lifted the 2011 World Cup, and played my last international game here- it is a journey words can’t capture. This statue is not mine. It is a dedication to every non-striker, my cricket heroes, every teammate, every colleague who stood by my side, for without them, this journey wouldn’t have been possible.”
Lastly, he thanked the Wankhede Stadium. He said, “ Wankhede and Cricket, you’ve been very kind.” Tendulkar said his final goodbye to international cricket. The whole cricket fraternity was heartbroken. He ended on high and still inspiring millions of youngsters every day in every way.
