Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, widely regarded as one of the greatest batters in the history of the sport, will soon be honored with a life-size statue at his home ground, the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India. The statue, standing at 22 feet, is set to be unveiled on November 1, coinciding with the India-Sri Lanka ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 game.

Sachin Tendulkar, who boasts a remarkable career with records such as 15,821 Test runs and 18,426 ODI runs, will be present at the unveiling ceremony. The event will feature prominent dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who will be the chief guest and guest of honor, respectively. Key officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will also be in attendance.
The statue, depicting a 50-year-old Tendulkar hitting a straight-six off Australian legend Shane Warne, was crafted by renowned painter-sculptor Pramod Kale. This monumental tribute to the cricketing icon is aimed at inspiring future generations of cricketers and carrying forward the legacy of Sachin Tendulkar and Mumbai Cricket.
Wankhede Stadium holds a special place in Sachin Tendulkar’s heart, as it was the venue for his emotional farewell to the game in November 2013, where he played his 200th and final Test match. Tendulkar’s connection with Mumbai runs deep, as he was born and raised in the city, and it’s where he honed his cricketing skills under the guidance of his coach, the late Ramakant Achrekar.
