Salman Ali Agha Comes Out in Support of Ex-Captain Babar Azam

The Pakistan men’s cricket team is quite concerned about Babar Azam’s recent bad performance in Test matches. The former captain of Pakistan scored his final significant run in a Test match in December 2022, with a brilliant 161 runs against New Zealand. Babar has failed to reach a half-century in his previous 16 innings. Babar has scored 3,962 runs overall at an average of 44.51 in 54 Tests.

All-rounder Salman Ali Agha recently threw his weight behind the former Pakistan captain, Babar, despite the fact that many analysts and former cricketers have criticized the player for his poor form. Babar was even called a “world-class player” by Ali Agha.

Babar’s poor form in recent matches

In the first innings of the Test series opener against their Asian rivals in Rawalpindi last month, Babar—Pakistan’s best-ranked batsman in the format—was removed for a duck. He scored twenty-two runs in that game’s second inning. In the first Test match, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan with a commanding 10-wicket margin to win their first-ever red-ball match.

Azam went out for 11 runs on Monday in the second inning of the second Test, which is currently in progress, after scoring 31 runs in the first inning. Shan Masood, the captain, scored a crucial 57 runs to lead the team to a commanding 274 points. Khurram Shahzad of Pakistan took six wickets in the opening over to dismiss the visitors for 262 runs.

“You experience these phases as a cricket player. Over the previous five years, he has consistently scored. He will soon return to leading Pakistan in runs scored. As a cricket player, you have such phases in your life,” he continued. “You should concentrate on the other ten players in the team. It’s okay if he’s having trouble. He’ll soon be back to hitting home runs.”
