Bangar, who worked closely with Kohli during his coaching stint with the Indian team, believes that Kohli’s experience and understanding of the game made him the ideal leader for the Test side. Bangar’s comments reflect a sentiment shared by many cricket enthusiasts who admired Kohli’s commitment and the brand of cricket he promoted. LEGACY OF VIRAT’S TEST CAPTAINCY

Under Virat’s captaincy the team managed to reach the finals of the World test championship in 2021 but his form was constantly questioned during his captaincy as he was not very consistent with scoring runs as this cost the team in the final of the tournament played with the Kiwis. In 2018 Kohli became the first Indian captain to win a test series in Australia which made him the most suitable captain for the format. Only 3 captains from India have won a test match at Lord’s in which Kohli is one of them. He made this possible in the India tour of England in 2021 after the WTC final. But because of the COVID the series was stopped and the chance to beat England in their home went away.
