India’s rising Test star, Sarfaraz Khan, has drawn an interesting parallel between the Indian captain Rohit Sharma and the beloved Bollywood character Bhuvan, portrayed by Aamir Khan in the iconic movie Lagaan. In a recent interview, Sarfaraz shared that Rohit’s leadership reminds him of Bhuvan’s role in assembling and inspiring his cricket team in the movie.
Speaking with JioCinema ahead of India’s first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 19, Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut earlier this year under Rohit’s captaincy, had high praise for the skipper.

He noted, “Lagaan is my favourite movie, and the way Aamir Khan’s character builds his team reminds me of Rohit bhai. For me, he’s Aamir Khan from Lagaan—a leader who creates a family-like atmosphere.”
Sarfaraz, who has impressed with 200 runs in five innings at an average of 50, described Rohit as more than just a captain. “He’s like an elder brother. He never makes you feel like a junior, and the way he talks boosts your confidence,” Sarfaraz added, highlighting Rohit’s ability to create a comfortable and positive environment for all players.
With Sarfaraz part of India’s squad for the Bangladesh Test series, his admiration for Rohit’s leadership comes at a crucial time as India looks to continue their strong form in international cricket.
