Sentinels Punch Ticket to VALORANT Champions 2024 Seoul Thanks to Leviatán Win

Sentinels fans can breathe a sigh of relief.  Despite their own elimination from the VCT Americas Stage 2 Playoffs, the team has secured a spot at VALORANT Champions 2024 in Seoul, Korea.  This qualification hinges on a crucial victory by another team: Leviatán.

Complex Qualification System at Play

The qualification process for VALORANT Champions involved a combination of playoff performance and accumulated Championship Points throughout the season.  Heading into the playoffs, Leviatán had already guaranteed their Champions berth through Championship Points alone.  However, a Sentinels qualification depended on Leviatán advancing through the playoff bracket rather than solely on points.

As fate would have it, Leviatán emerged victorious in their match against KRÜ, effectively granting Sentinels the second Champions spot from the VCT Americas region.  This win highlights the unique dynamics of playoff qualification, where a team’s success can have a ripple effect on the fortunes of others.

Two Spots Still Up for Grabs in VCT Americas

While Sentinels and Leviatán have secured their places at Champions, the VCT Americas Stage 2 Playoffs continue to determine the remaining two representatives from the region.  G2 with a 2-0 win against the 100 Thieves have secured one of those two spots. The remaining spot will be claimed by the winner of the KRU vs 100T match.

With Sentinels and Leviatán joining the ranks, the VALORANT Champions 2024 field begins to take shape.  Several other regions have already locked in their representatives, including powerhouse teams like FPX and EDG from China, Gen.G and DRX from the Pacific region, and FNATIC and Vitality from EMEA.

While their primary goal of qualifying for Champions Seoul has been achieved, Leviatán’s journey isn’t over.  They will continue competing in the VCT Americas Stage 2 Playoffs, using the remaining matches to hone their skills and gain valuable experience against top competition before facing the world’s best at VALORANT Champions 2024. However, for Sentinels, it would give them enough time to focus on their strategies and figure out where things went wrong for them.
