Setbacks for Pakistan Women, Injuries Hit Diana Baig and Skipper Nida Dar in ODI Series Against New Zealand

Pakistan Women’s Team is playing an ODI series against the New Zealand Women’s team. In that ongoing series, the Pakistan team faced a setback. Their star players Diana Baig and captain Nida Dar faced injuries. While playing against the Kiwis, this is a huge setback for the team. 

How did the Injuries Happen?

Injury is an unpredictable thing. It can happen to anyone at any time. The same thing happened with the Pakistan Women’s Team. captain Nida Dar sustained an injury in the first match. In the 44th over of the first ODI, She was hit in the face in a shot by Sophie Devine. After that injury, she was immediately taken for medical attention. Sadaf Shamas replaced her in the second innings. 

Another injury happened in the squad. Diana Baig sustained an injury in the practice session. The injury happened while she was fielding. After that, she was also immediately taken to hospital and as per scan reports, she sustained a fracture. Those are the big blows for the Pakistani squad. 

Official Statements on Those Two Players:

After skipper Nida Dar’s injury, PCB gave an official statement regarding her injury. In the statement, they said,” After assessing Nida’s condition, the team physio has determined that Nida will not take any further part in today’s ODI, the decision on Nida’s participation in the remaining matches of the series will be made in due course.”

Even after Diana Baig’s injury, PCB published an official statement. They said, “While fielding in a practice session, (Baig) suffered an injury in the index finger of her bowling arm. Immediately after the incident, she was taken to a local hospital for a thorough examination, including an X-ray.”

Further, they added, “The medical reports have confirmed a horizontal fracture in Diana Baig’s index finger, making her unavailable for the ODI series against the White Ferns. The PCB medical team is closely monitoring her condition, and she will undergo further assessments to determine the extent of the injury and the necessary course of action for her recovery.”
