Shafali Verma Channels Sehwag, Matches His Excellence for Double Hundred

The Red ball cricket is back in Indian soil. This time, the India Women’s team is spreading excitement in the longest format of cricket. After bagging the limited-over series, they are taking on South African Women in the one-off Test match in Chennai. On the first day of the Test match, the young batter scored an exceptional double hundred and that special knock brought back the memory of legendary Indian opener Virendra Sehwag.

Shafali’s Outstanding Knock and Similarity With Sehwag:

The Indian Women’s team is back into the red ball format. After playing the limited-over series, they are facing the South African Women’s team in the only Test of the series in Chennai. While batting first, the Indian openers gave a dreamy start. But young batter Shafali Verma grabbed the attention.

Shafali scored a double century in just 194 balls, breaking Annabel Sutherland’s previous record of 248 balls against the same team earlier this year. Her aggressive batting included 23 fours and eight massive sixes. Shafali reached the 200-run mark in style, hitting consecutive sixes off Delmi Tucker and a single to secure her record. She was eventually dismissed for 205 runs in 197 balls.

Shafali’s impressive achievement makes her the second Indian woman to score a double century in Test cricket, following the legendary former captain Mithali Raj. But there is an amazing coincidence found between Shefali Verma and Virendra Sehwag.
