The Indian fans are enjoying the pure thrills of Test cricket. India and Bangladesh are facing each other in a two-match Test series. After facing a massive defeat of 280 runs in the first Test, Bangladesh shattered. But before facing the hosts in the second Test, Bangladesh is likely to face another setback. Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan may be uncertain for the upcoming second Test against India in Kanpur.
Massive Defeat and Another Setback:
Coming off a dominating Test series win over Pakistan, Bangladesh faced a massive setback. While facing India in the first Test match of the two-match Test series, Bangladesh’s entire lineup got broken. The bowlers showcased domination but the entire batting lineup failed to dominate the Indian bowlers. From Ashwin, Gill, and Pant’s century to bowling domination by both pace and spin departments throughout the match, they snatched the game. With that dominance, they thrashed Bangladesh with a massive 280-run win.
The second Test match is all set to take place in Kanpur. But before heading to the second Test, the Bangladesh side is set to face another big setback. Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan may be doubtful for the upcoming Test against India in Kanpur. The all-rounder is currently under observation by the team management due to some discomfort that could sideline him.
Reports indicate that he was struck on the finger while batting against Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, requiring medical treatment. In addition to his batting concerns, Shakib was restricted from bowling for a significant time during both innings. He managed to bowl a total of 21 overs across the two innings. If he misses out on the upcoming match, Bangladesh may found them in a little trouble.

Hannan’s Words:
BCB’s selection panel member Hannan Sarkar stated that the team management will decide on Shakib’s availability after training sessions in Kanpur. He mentioned that Shakib is currently under observation. The final decision regarding his selection will be made based on feedback from the team’s physio.
He said, “We are heading to Kanpur tomorrow (Tuesday) and today is a day off. We will have two sessions afterwards and we will judge after that (regarding Shakib’s availability in the second Test) and we don’t want to make a decision yet.”
Later he added, “These two days, the physio has kept him under observation. When we get back to the ground, we will get the physio’s feedback. We have to think before picking Shakib for the next match and there is time before the next match. We will see what condition he is in.”
Not a Prior Injury:
Hannan confirmed that Shakib was fully fit before the first Test and had received full clearance from the physio to play. He clarified that the physio approved the veteran’s participation in the Chennai Test. It was only after this match that Shakib began to bowl.
While talking about this, he said, “We know the pain in his hand is being discussed. It was not there before the match and many have tried to explain it in different ways. But before the match, we got a 100 percent clearance from the physio before taking him. He was a 100 percent fit then.”
Later he added, “You can’t say it’s an injury. The discomfort he felt in that finger was not there before the match. He felt that when he started to bowl.”
