Shanto’s Costly Drop: Pant Survives on 72 as Bangladesh’s Fielding Woes Continue

The Indian fans are enjoying five days of endless thrills. The exciting Test match between India and Bangladesh is going on. As the first Test match is going on in Chennai, India’s performance is making it more interesting. On the third day, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are showcasing a dominating display over the Bangladeshi bowling lineup. Among this, Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto’s terrible catch drop gave Pant a life while batting on 72.

Terrible Catch Drop by Shanto:

The first Test match of the two-match Test series has been kicked off in Chennai. Even after facing some major blows in the first innings, Team India bounced back. While batting in the second innings, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant resumed batting on the third day. As both were pushing well, a crucial catch-drop of Rishabh Pant gave him a big save.

The incident took place in the 49th over. Shakib Al Hasan was bowling in the over and Rishabh Pant was on strike. Pant attempted a slog sweep, but the ball went straight up as he top-edged it. It was a straightforward chance for Shanto at mid-wicket. He had plenty of time to position himself, but unfortunately, he fumbled the catch. It was a clear mistake, and he never seemed confident under the high ball.

This dropped catch highlighted Bangladesh’s struggles in the field. Shanto appeared rushed and unsure, leading to a costly miss. It was a crucial opportunity to dismiss a key player, but the error allowed Pant to continue his innings while he was batting on 72 runs.

Pant’s Exciting Comeback in Whites:

After a long break due to his life-threatening injury in 2022, Rishabh Pant made his comeback in the longest format in this ongoing Test series against Bangladesh. While batting in the first innings, Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs in 52 balls. But made more strong comeback in the second innings.

While batting in the second innings, India lost the first three wickets quickly. While maintaining a crucial partnership with Shubman Gill, Pant notched up a fine half-century. After coming back to the longest format for a long time, Pant was seen as aggressive. He is still continuing to bat on 82 runs in 108 deliveries.
