The IPL 2024 is just two matches away to end another exciting season. The Indian fans enjoyed another thrilling version of the tournament. With so many ups and downs, Punjab Kings caught the attention. They struggled throughout the tournament and made their exit in the group stage. The Punjab Kings captain was ruled out in the middle of the tournament due to a shoulder injury. After that, in an interaction, he talked about the new chapter of his life.

Ups and Downs in Dhawan’s Career:

Shikhar Dhawan known as ‘Gabbar’ is one of the best openers of the Indian cricket. After making his debut, he has become one of the big strengths for the team. From scoring a century on his Test debut to celebrating his century in his 100th ODI for India, Shikhar Dhawan has enjoyed a stellar career. Representing the nation at the highest level, he has played numerous match-winning knocks. Dhawan has scored over 6,500 runs in ODIs and surpassed the 2,000-run mark in Test cricket, establishing himself as one of India’s finest white-ball cricketers.

Dhawan has been absent from India’s squad since December 2022. Although he’s distanced from the international stage, he’s remained a regular in the Indian Premier League. However, this season hasn’t been favorable for the left-hander, as his performance has dipped midway through the tournament. Despite his challenges, Dhawan continues to be a prominent figure in domestic cricket.

Dhawan’s New Innings:

With Punjab Kings crashing out this season, social media buzzes with speculation about the seasoned batter’s future. Addressing his journey, the calm and composed Indian opener, Dhawan, acknowledged that his career is in transition. He admitted to taking things as they come, showcasing his steady and level-headed approach amidst changes in his cricketing path. Dhawan’s serene mindset reflects his adaptability and resilience during this period of change.

In a discussion, he said, “I am also going through a transition ‘Jahan Meri Cricket Vishram Pe Aayegi’ and a new chapter in my life will start. You only have a certain age till you can play. It could be one year more, two years more, or xyz for me.”

In the previous IPL edition, Dhawan scored 373 runs at an average of 41.44, showing his desire to excel on the big stage. However, this season he played only five games, missing most of it due to a shoulder injury. On April 9, Dhawan injured his shoulder during the IPL 2024 match between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, sidelining him for the majority of the season.

He said, “Unfortunately I got injured this IPL season and could not play for Punjab except for 4-5 matches. It takes time to recover. I am still healing. I have not recovered 100 percent yet.”

Earlier this month Dhawan made his hosting debut. While talking about this, he said, “I will be honest…I was quite nervous initially as it was something new for me. ‘Dil Dhak-Dhak Kar Raha Tha’..(heart was beating fast), especially when I was shooting with Akshay Paaji (Akshay Kumar). I was smiling in front of him but I was nervous for sure. I feel it’s natural to get nervous when you start something new…but ‘Ek Baari Flow Mein Aa Gaye Toh Phir Chakke-Chauke Pad Hi Jaate Hain’ (once you get the hang of it, then it is just like smashing boundaries on the cricket field).”
