Former Pakistani fast-bowling legend Shoaib Akhtar has taken a dig at Pakistani Captain Babar Azam’s decision to bowl first against India in the Asia Cup Super 4 match. On Sunday, India and Pakistan met for the second time against each other in the Asia Cup 2023. The previous gane of this intense rivalry was called off due to heavy rainfall. However, rain did play spoilsport again during the Super 4 encounter as well but the organizers had a reserve day for this particular game of the Super 4 stage.
India off to a dream start
In Sunday’s match, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Somehow, Shoaib Akhtar was not happy with this decision. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill started the innings with their excellent batting technique. After 16.2 overs India were on 121 without any loss and were looking at a huge total.
However, on the very next ball, Shadab Khan sent Rohit Sharma back to the pavilion for 56 runs. In the next over Shubhman Gill got out to Shaheen Afridi as Salman Ali Agha took an easy catch. Then Virat Kohli and KL Rahul joined to carry forward the innings. While KL was batting on 17 and Virat was batting on 8 the rain interrupted the play. After that because of the bad conditions, the match was called off and the Umpires opted for the reserve day.
In the first game against Pakistan, India won the toss and decided to bat first. Well, the decision was a bit questionable. That day Pakistani bowlers were on fire. In the first ten overs, India lost early three wickets. Captain Rohit Sharma got out on eleven runs. Shreyas Iyer who did a comeback scored only 14 runs. After 10 overs India was on 48/3. From that Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan made a 138 runs partnership. Then the rain interrupted the game.
Akhtar slams Pakistani Players
After Sunday’s got interrupted by the rain Shoaib Akhtar posted on Twitter,” Barish ne bacha liya aaj. Pehle India phass gaya tha humare aagey. Aaj hum phass gaye India ke aage, shukr hai barish ne bacha li”. The Pakistani legend was not happy about Babar’s decision and ended up saying this sarcastic line.
Rain forced that blockbuster match to reserve day. The match stopped when India was on 147-2 in 24.1 overs. Depending on the situation ICC took the decision of having a reserve day. The game will resume on Monday at 3 PM onwards. Hopefully, it will end up with some result of the biggest rivalry in the cricket world.
