Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Iyer urged journalists to do proper research before publishing news, labelling the reports as false.
“Guys, seriously, let’s do some homework before publishing news,” Iyer said while quoting a social media user who posted, “Shreyas Iyer set to miss Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game – Cricbuzz.” The user later deleted the post after Shreyas called him out.
Last week, Shreyas Iyer made a strong comeback, scoring 142 runs from 190 balls in Mumbai’s second Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra. His brilliant innings helped Mumbai bounce back after a surprising loss to Baroda in their opening game.
“Regardless of what others say, I have to listen to my body. I know how much I’ve pushed myself over the years, and I’ll make the right decisions based on that. I hope my team will support me,” Shreyas said after his match-winning knock.
