In a significant development for Mumbai, Shreyas Iyer, the middle-order batsman for India, is set to return to action in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals against Tamil Nadu at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC ground from March 2. Iyer, who had been sidelined due to recurring back spasms, has now recovered and confirmed his availability for the crucial match.
According to a source, Iyer has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that he is fit and available for the semi-final match. He had been experiencing back pain while batting, which caused him to miss Mumbai’s last two Ranji matches. Iyer had scored 35, 13, 27 & 29 in the first two Tests against England in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam before being sidelined.
This news comes as a big boost for Mumbai, as Iyer’s return adds depth and experience to their batting lineup. His ability to anchor the innings and score quick runs makes him a vital player for Mumbai. His return will also bolster Mumbai’s chances of qualifying for the final and potentially winning the Ranji Trophy.
In addition to Iyer, Tamil Nadu will also receive a boost with the return of Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan. Sundar, the off-spinning all-rounder, will be available after being released from India duty, while Sudharsan has recovered from an injury and will join the team soon.
The clash between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams fielding strong lineups. Fans can expect a closely contested match as both teams look to secure a spot in the final of the prestigious domestic tournament.
