Sikandar Raza Reflects on Defeat, Highlights Bowling Strengths and Calls for Improved Batting and Fielding Attitude

The five-match T20 series has been wrapped up. Team India clinched the series with a 4-1 margin win. On the flip side, the series was a heartbreaking one for the Zimbabwe side. After winning the first match, they kept struggling in the series. On their home soil, they lost the series. In the last match, they faced a defeat by 42 runs. After the heartbreaking defeat, Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza reflected on the defeat. 

Zimbabwe’s Performance and Raza’s Reflection:

Zimbabwe entered this tournament with setbacks aiming to end the series on a positive note. After winning the toss, Zimbabwe opted to bowl first. While bowling in the first innings, they started well as India lost the first three wickets in the powerplay. After that, they lost the flow and conceded runs in crucial times. 

Just like the whole series Blessing Muzarabani played well in this match too. He secured 2 wickets by just conceding 19 runs. Skipper Sikandar Raza secured 1 wicket by conceding 37 runs. They restricted the opponent to 167 runs in 20 overs. 

After facing defeat in the last match, Raza reflected on their performance and praised the other teammates. He said, “I thought Blessing bowled well the whole series. Batting-wise, we are below par. The grey thing for me is the attitude in the field, that’s something we can improve.”

Later he added, “Richie wasn’t fit at the start, to have him fit is a blessing. To have Richie and Blessing complementing each other, very happy to see them.”

Raza on His Workload Management:

After facing a heartbreaking defeat, Sikandar Raza opened up about workload management. He reflected on his concern over the Test format. There was a talk about his career in T20 cricket. He also updated his participation in the Hundred League. 

He said, “My workload needs to be managed. I will go back to play domestic cricket. I am still available for Test match cricket. I leave for Hundred in a few days time.”
