The sports minister is set to appoint an interim seven-member committee. Former Sri Lankan WorldCup-winning skipper Arjuna Ranatunga will join that committee. Under the sports law no. 25 the formation of the authority was possible. Ranasinghe released a letter to the Sri Lankan media saying, “ Sri Lankan Cricket has been besieged with complaints of player disciplinary issues, management corruption, financial misconduct and match-fixing allegations. I would like to emphasize that interim measures will only be taken to establish good governance principles.”
The Sri Lankan cricket was in a dicey situation till the last month. ICC instructed Ranasinghe to withdraw a three-member committee. ICC has not reacted to thiseven-memberer committee. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board President was also sacked.
Arjuna Ranatunga also talked about this situation. He said, “ Sri Lanka Cricket had become known as the most corrupt institution in the country. I want to change the image.”
The Big Defeat:
India and Sri Lanka faced each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After winning the toss, India decided to bat first. Indian batters were excellent. Shubman Gill was excellent. He played a responsible knock of 92 runs in 92 balls including 11 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries. Virat Kohli scored 88 runs. Shreyas Iyer played a quick knock of 82 runs in 56 balls. They set a target of 358 runs.
