While Hardik lost his opportunity to be the T20 captain for India, he did get into the good graces of the new Head Coach Gautam Gambhir.

In their first practice session with new head coach Gautam Gambhir, the Indian cricket team, particularly T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, were in high spirits. The tour will start with the T20Is on July 27, followed by the ODIs beginning on August 2.
The Indian cricketers had a nearly three-hour practice session, with all players taking turns at the nets. Afterward, they gradually boarded the team bus, an event captured by the YouTube channel Sports Fact Real.
Interestingly, coach Gautam Gambhir took the front seat on the right aisle with Hardik Pandya across from him on the left. Both the veterans appeared in high spirits and shared a laugh, indicating a positive team atmosphere.
Abhishek Nayar sat directly behind Gambhir, while Suryakumar Yadav seemed to have chosen a seat towards the back of the bus, although his exact position wasn’t visible in the video.

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya remain on good terms despite recent events, where Surya was named India’s new T20I captain, overshadowing Hardik, the vice-captain of the T20 World Cup-winning team. Hardik ensured there were no issues or social media drama.
On Monday night, the BCCI shared a video of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav hugging at Mumbai airport before flying to Colombo for their series starting July 27. Both players are teammates for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Additionally, During India’s first nets session in Pallekele on Tuesday, there was no sign of tension. The session focused on running, catching, and one-on-one interactions. Captain Suryakumar Yadav engaged with the players, while coach Gautam Gambhir provided batting tips to Sanju Samson and conversed with all-rounder Shivam Dube.
