Suryakumar Yadav talks about his comeback to form and fitness

Mumbai Indians‘ dynamic batter Suryakumar Yadav provided an update on his fitness after his impressive performance against Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Yadav’s blitz helped Mumbai Indians secure a crucial victory, with his 78-run knock playing a pivotal role in the team’s success.

Yadav, who returned to on-field action against Delhi Capitals after recovering from ankle surgery earlier this year, has been gradually regaining his form. Speaking about his fitness during a mid-innings interview, Yadav said, “It is going really well. I am almost there. I have started fielding, and I am also training well. So, slow and steady, hoping that all 40 overs I will be on the ground.”

Despite facing a few ups and downs in his performance since his return, Yadav remains positive and focused on contributing to his team’s success. “That teaches you there are ups and downs in life,” Yadav said, reflecting on his recent performances.

In the match against Punjab Kings, Yadav adopted a patient approach, taking time before accelerating his innings. He explained, “Nothing as much there was a talk going on. Last day we had a batters meeting that there will be a batter who will have to bat at least 15 to 17 overs because when we had a net session we felt that wicket will be a little difficult to get big runs on the board. But I just wanted to be myself. I took a little bit more time today, and after Rohit got out, there had to be a batter who batted a little more, I just continued the way I bat.”

Yadav’s contribution, along with star speedster Jasprit Bumrah and Coetzee’s influential spells, helped Mumbai Indians secure a crucial victory against Punjab Kings. With his fitness improving and his form returning, Yadav remains a key player for Mumbai Indians as they aim for success in the IPL 2024 season.
