Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav praised his former Mumbai teammate and current USA cricket team member Saurabh Netravalkar for his heroic Super Over performance against Pakistan at the T20 World Cup match in Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. Netravalkar defended 19 runs in the one-over shootout, leading to USA‘s biggest international win and a historic upset in the T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav expressed his admiration for Netravalkar’s performance against Pakistan by posting an Instagram story and sending warm wishes to Netravalkar’s family in Mumbai. Netravalkar and Suryakumar had shared the Mumbai dressing room about a decade ago, with Netravalkar also playing in the 2010 U19 World Cup alongside notable players like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Jaydev Unadkat.

The Instagram post read: “Saurabh Netravalkar, tula maanla bhau (I respect you, brother). Very happy for you and your family back home.”

While Suryakumar advanced through domestic cricket to become a key player for Mumbai Indians and later secure his spot in India’s T20I team, Netravalkar moved to the USA due to limited opportunities in India. He completed a master’s degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and worked as a software engineer at Oracle, yet continued to pursue cricket. In 2019, he debuted in USA’s first international game and was pivotal in their recent victory.

Suryakumar is set to face Netravalkar on June 12 when India plays against the USA in New York during the T20 World Cup.
