After winning the match, veteran cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the T20I format. India won the T20 World Cup finals against South Africa by 7 runs after a thrilling face-off between the two teams at Barbados. The men in blue went undefeated this season, winning all their matches and taking the trophy home.

Suryakumar’s tribute to captain Rohit Sharma

Suryakumar Yadav, a star Indian batter, praised skipper Rohit Sharma after the Men in Blue broke their trophy drought and won the T20 World Cup 2024. India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final on Saturday, June 29, in Barbados.

SKY took to X to congratulate Rohit on a very successful T20 career and praised him for his captaincy.

SKY’s feelings after winning the T20 World Cup 2024

As team India won their first ICC trophy since 2013 and their first World Cup trophy after 2011, the players were overjoyed. Team India was seen sharing tearful moments of celebration with each other and their families.

However, Suryakumar Yadav admits that the win hasn’t quite sunk in.

“Obviously very happy. But it will maybe take a day or two to sink in. To win from the position we were in was incredible. But I think very happy.” SKY said.

“Every moment I have been in that dressing room I have enjoyed a lot. Look (gestures at the rain falling) even God is watching what we have been going through in the last two years.” he added.

The team is now stuck in Barbados due to a hurricane, however celebrations and a BCCI felicitation ceremony await them in India.
