As the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant approaches, their sangeet ceremony on July 6, 2024, at the Jio World Convention Centre was a star-studded affair featuring several celebrities from various fields, including members of India‘s victorious T20 World Cup squad.
Among the distinguished guests were T20 World Cup champions Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav. The trio was honored in a grand manner during the event. A viral video from the ceremony shows Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav on stage alongside Mukesh and Nita Ambani. As Arjit Singh’s song “Lehra Do” from the film 83 played, the audience stood and waved their arms in a tribute to the cricketers’ recent success.
This T20 World Cup victory was celebrated as India’s second title in the tournament’s history, with Rohit Sharma being the only player to have been part of both World Cup-winning teams, the first in 2007 under MS Dhoni and the second in 2024.
Following their victory over South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, the team faced a brief delay due to a hurricane but was eventually flown back to India via a BCCI-arranged charter flight. After a 16-hour journey, they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and were later celebrated with a public parade in Mumbai, drawing a crowd of 30,000 to the Wankhede Stadium.
The sangeet ceremony also saw the presence of other notable figures from the cricketing world, including former captain MS Dhoni, ex-fast bowler Zaheer Khan, and current players like Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Krunal Pandya.
