T20WC Champions Honoured at Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant Sangeet

As the grand wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant approaches, several celebrities from Bollywood, sports, and other fields gathered at the Jio World Convention Centre for the Sangeet ceremony on Saturday. Among the attendees were members of the triumphant T20 World Cup side, who were honoured with a grand gesture from all the attendees.

T20WC Champions Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav Honoured

A video that went viral on social media showed India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, his deputy Hardik Pandya, and former No. 1 ICC T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav on the podium during the sangeet ceremony, alongside Mukesh and Nita Ambani. As Arijit Singh’s “Lehra Do” from the Bollywood movie 83 played in the background, attendees stood up, waving their arms to honour the three members of the World Cup-winning side.

Celebrating India’s T20 World Cup Victory

Team India clinched their second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. This victory added to their 2007 glory under MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma remains the only Indian player to be part of both winning teams. Following the win, the Indian team was stranded in hurricane-hit Barbados for a few days before the BCCI arranged a charter flight for their return home.

Grand Reception in Mumbai

The players reached New Delhi on Thursday morning and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence over breakfast. Later that day, they landed in Mumbai, where an open-bus convoy from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium took place, and they were felicitated in front of a packed crowd of 30,000.
