Tabraiz Shamsi Hails Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium as His Favorite Indian Venue.

South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has named Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium as his preferred Indian cricket venue, citing the crowd’s exceptional knowledge and support for players regardless of their team. 

Shamsi Said:

“Chennai. The crowd is really knowledgeable and appreciates good plays from both teams during the game no matter who is playing.”

This iconic stadium, which hosts the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is renowned for its enthusiastic and impartial spectators who cheer for impressive performances from both sides.

Shamsi, who has played for various teams in the IPL including the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), recently expressed his admiration on X.

Rahul Dravid, a former Indian captain and current head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, has also acknowledged the exceptional support of Chennai’s cricket fans. 

Speaking to Star Sports, Dravid reminisced about his experiences playing in Chennai, emphasising the crowd’s deep understanding and love for cricket.

“Of course, I’ve played a lot of international cricket here and it’s always great to play in front of this crowd because it was one of the most supportive and appreciative crowds in the country, really knew their cricket and love their cricket. He said.

“Yeah, I think some of my best memories are actually playing league cricket here, playing league cricket in the old days, growing up here and the stadium used to look very different then. All concrete stands, it’s beautiful to see how it’s changed now but it was lovely to play some league cricket here,” he added.

He fondly recalled his memorable innings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, including completing 10,000 Test runs against South Africa in 2008.
