Harleen Deol
Harleen Kaur Deol is an Indian cricketer. She’s an attacking right-hand batter who also occasionally bowls right-arm leg spin. She gained popularity for her acrobatic catch during the Twenty20 series against England.
History :
Harleen was born on 21st June 1998. She completed her schooling at Yadavindra Public School, Mohali. Harleen Deol is an absolute powerhouse of all-round talent from Punjab. A right-handed batter and spinner who can bowl both off-break and leg-break, Harleen is also an exceptional fielder. Harleen began playing cricket at the age of 7. She also played basketball and Football during her school days. She discovered her passion for cricket while playing gully cricket as a child. At the age of just 13, she started playing for Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. Harleen made her international debut in 2019 at the age of 21.
Harleen Deol’s mother is Charanjit Kaur Deol and her father is Baghel Singh Deol. Her mother works for the government, and Harleen Deol’s father is a businessman. She enrolled in Mehr Chand Mahajan (MCM) DAV College for Women in her hometown of Chandigarh after finishing high school.
Her Debut:
Harleen plays for Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket. She made her Women’s One Day International (WODI) debut for India against England on 22 February 2019, at Wankhede in Mumbai, becoming the second woman cricketer from Chandigarh to play for India after Taniya Bhatia. She made her Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) debut against England on 4 March 2019. Harleen made her Women’s T20 Challenge debut for Trailblazers on 6 May 2019 against Supernovas, sharing in a 100-run partnership with Smriti Mandhana.
International Career :
In January 2020, she was named in India’s squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Deol went viral in July 2021 after performing an acrobatic catch while avoiding the boundary rope during the Twenty20 series against England. Fielding at long-off, Deol leapt to catch a lofted Amy Jones drive two-handed high above her head but, realizing her momentum was taking her across the boundary rope to potentially concede six runs, she lobbed the ball into the air to give herself enough time to dive back onto the field of play to recapture the falling ball in mid-air. She earned praise from Sachin Tendulkar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the catch. In July 2022, she was named to India’s team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. In December 2023, Deol was selected in India’s test squad for the only Test against England
WPL Career :
In the inaugural season of the Indian Women’s Premier League in 2023, Harleen Deol was acquired by the Gujarat Giants (GG). At the four-week tournament’s conclusion, she was one of thirteen batters to have amassed over 200 runs. Her 202 aggregate, which she achieved at a Strike rate of 125.46, brought her within two runs of top-scoring for her team.

Most catches in an innings (3) in Women’s One-Day Internationals.
In the 2019 IPL, Harleen Deol won the Stylish of the Match Award.
